Blog #4Making bags and jewelry is really hard in general. Going into this project I didn't really think about that. It's a process and sitting down to make a product isn't the first thing I want to be doing.
Just like in life I tend to look at the future and imagine the feelings or the experiences that are connected to a topic or whats happening right now. But that is also in the future, not the present feelings. This project pushed me to show up and pay attention to whats happening RIGHT NOW. This week I want to be strong and finish this with knowing that I put a lot of love and time into this project. I want to publish my website and I am going to work on it in sections so I don't wear myself out. This is something that I am very passionate about and I want to continue this awareness about waste and reusing. At this point I just need to be in the present. See how I feel even after writing this blog post. I just want to do this. BLog #3During the past week Totally Tubular has had some massive progress towards the production of materials. Time is definitely a big part of this project and having to sit down for 2 hours to figure out how the sewing machine works is very time consuming. The idea of sewing up some bags and making jewelry sounds super easy, but it's not. But man I have the patience!
Blog #2Regarding Thursday's class, we talked about our project proposition. Totally tubular was a unique thought encouraged by Stephen Sellers and local bike shops around Durango. Utilizing old busted-up bicycle tubes to form modern material reduces waste and allows others to reuse the item.
My intention for today is to complete my blogs and catch up on my writing prompts. I feel like contacting the bike shops and stopping in would benefit my process. Launching my project to companies and collecting bike tubes will help me become closer to my final product. For this week I hope to start and publish a little website so then I can be contacted. Being able to post posters and have a QR code around town would spark the interest in other bikers and in the community. Finding people and resources to share my project would assist this soon to be business. |
